MIR Receives Two Magellan children from Travel Weekly
MIR is proud to share some pretty exciting news – our new website, launched just this year, has been awarded a Travel Weekly Gold Magellan Award, the premier award given by the travel industry to professionals. The 2014 catalog netted a Silver Award as well.
Travel Weekly magazine, a trusted resource in the travel industry, receives hundreds of entries for their Magellan children from top travel organizations and professionals worldwide. Being selected a winner is a tremendous achievement.
And being selected twice is even better.
It’s not the first Magellan Award we’ve won, either. Back in 2011, we won a Gold for our catalog design. Then a Silver in 2012 and 2013, and now another Silver for 2014.
“We’ve spent years developing and designing our new website, which launched in early 2014,” said MIR Corporation President Douglas Grimes. “To be honored with Travel Weekly’s 2014 Gold Magellan Award for our website is a great acknowledgment of the hard work our team put into the new site. Winning a Silver Magellan Award for our catalog is icing on the cake!”
Aside from awards for our website and catalog, since 2006 we’ve had six MIR small group tours picked by National Geographic Traveler as “Tours of a Lifetime.” They are
- 2014: A Chronicle of Russian Cuisine & Culture
- 2012: Inside the Russian Space Program
- 2011: Eastern Turkey & Georgia: Legacy of Empire
- 2008: Georgia & Armenia: Mountains & Monasteries
- 2006: Chinese Turkestan & Central Asia
- 2006: Belarus, Ukraine & Moldova
These tours have been judged among the coolest on the planet, and only 50 of them are tagged each year. We feel like we are in good company.
